Axis International School Education

Axis International School (AIS) situates on the west side of Tokyo, Japan. It started in 2003 with a program of Home Study International – a program created for children of missionaries of the Seventh-Day Adventist church.
One of the visions of AIS is to give well-rounded education to any student that might want to have global training integrated with faith-based instruction.
Axis International School believes that there is a life lesson we can get from every subject. We agree with the statement of Ellen G. White that said:
- “True education means more than the pursual of a certain course of study. It means more than a preparation for the life that now is. It has to do with the whole being, and with the whole period of existence possible to man. It is the harmonious development of the physical, the mental, and the spiritual powers. It prepares the student for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in the world to come” (Ed 13.1).
In line with the above passage, Axis International School includes DHRI (dignity, honor, respect, and integrity) in all our curriculum. The Bible is one of the center subjects of the educational plan and is a centerpiece of building up a values-based curriculum. Teaching the Bible prepares children to make choices between good and bad. In our daily morning assembly, our scriptural reading usually touches on these four values. Furthermore, we try to direct the minds of the kids that the values we teach and practice are not just for their personal and community benefits but to prepare them “for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in the world to come.”
Although the majority of AIS staff are Seventh-day Adventists and the curriculum are based on their beliefs, students and staff with different religions are welcomed with the utmost respect.
